This is a book I loved - it includes characters which I think must be representing old India.
A wonderful story about Anil and the challenges he faces. The story revolved around the traditional values and culture of India. He is the first to go to college, to leave India to study in the States, and his family expects him to fulfill the role of arbiter for their village members’ disputes despite the fact he lives thousands of miles away. The longer he lives in America, the more he feels pulled between the two different cultures and a growing sense that he doesn’t really belong in either country.
If you choose one book to read this year, let it be this one. ...this is a must read is all I can say!
